MFW To Sonlight

I started using MFW Kindergarten with Sarah and I quickly realized that it wasn't going to fit our needs. It's a cute curriculum but it's really closer to a prek program. I decided to go with Sonlight.... I'm hoping to keep a running blog on our Kindergarten adventures with Sonlight. Lets see how faithful I am. God Bless, Laura

The First Week

Image
You would think that the first week of my New Year's resolution would be the easiest...it wasn't. I had a few curve balls that tempted me to break it, but I stood firm. My little guy, David, got sick. High fever, waking me up at night and a bad cough. This alone is enough to make you crave your comfort foods, but I stood my ground. If that wasn't bad enough, I grabbed one of my meals that I had frozen in a FoodSaver bag and decided to make that. It was my home made Chicken and Dumplings. It happens to be one of Sarah and Davids favorite meals. The first time I made it, I gave David a taste while it was cooking. I turned around to stir the pot and when I turned back , David had picked up his plate and was literally licking it clean. That's how much they like it. Back to my story. I put the bag in water and bring it to a boil. When the bag was done, I lifted it out of the pot and the bottom seam ripped open, sending our dinner sliding down into the boiling water. The...

Eating In...The Beginning

Image
This may not seem like the normal New Year's resolution but I decided that mine would be to NOT order in or eat out for 3 months (Trying to go for 6 months). I want to do this for both health and financial reasons. We spent way too much money visiting our son in Texas, ( I LOVE Texas), for his basic training graduation from the Air Force. The plane ride, hotel, eating out and the attractions we went to was a small fortune. Sea World in San Antonio is very supportive of their military men and families and actually allowed Bobby , my son, and 3 people to go for free. That was really a blessing because it's very expensive. The only one we had to pay for was my youngest daughter, who is 4 years old. We got a discounted rate for her of $40.00. It was a great deal. We also went to a local TGIFriday's and was pleasantly surprised that the manager gave us a $20.00 discount because he saw Bobby in his "Blues". Texas is really supportive of military men and families. Di...

Today's Tragedy...

My heart and prayers go out to those 20 families who lost their precious babies today. Yes, I called them babies. 5 year olds are still considered babies in my book. So young to go home to the Lord. My only consolation as a believer in Christ is that those babies are in the arms of Jesus. This comes as little or no comfort for their families. These poor parents have gifts under their trees for their children that will never be opened by them. Little beds that will no longer be slept in. We mourn with them but can not truly know the pain and sorrow they must be feeling. Their empty arms prayerfully filled by a loving spouse who can truly know the pain they're going through. My prayer is that these families grip onto the Loving God who is the only one who can comfort them in this time if grief. People ask, "Why?"...there is only one answer...Evil. Pure evil. We are a lost society and until we go back to our Biblical roots, will only get worse. Sadly, Laura

Reviving my Blog...

It's been a while..I've missed my blog. I just haven't had time. Not that I don't have alot to share , it's just that time is short and i'm always trying to get a weeks worth of stuff done in one day. Ain't that all moms?? Many new changes since my last blog..I think my last posts were about changing my business page and doing a whole new layout... My layout changed alright... I closed up shop. That's right...I closed up my cloth diaper business. Many have asked me, "why?". It's simple. My children. I'm a homeschooling mom, and I started doing PreK with Sarah. PreK isn't tough and doesn't really take up much time with prep work, but I really enjoy being with my children. I don't know why but the thought of putting them on a school bus or driving them and dropping them off at a building makes me sad. Sarah has a love of learning. Whether is reading or learning about different bugs, her eyes light up with joy as she le...

Colors , Colors and More Colors

I'm on my way to a new website. Angel sent me a link to a website that has TONS of color schemes. Those of you who follow my pinterest will see a large display of colors posted to my "Colors Schemes" board. Now I have to narrow down my choices. Some one once said that the less choices you have, the better. I have to agree. I don't know why we like so many choices but we do. I however, do not!! I'm going to narrow my choices down and see what my favorites are. This is going to take time. I've not even looked at the colors since I first pinned them. I'm thinking about having a voting contest on my facebook page to see which colors get the highest votes, once I narrow them down. This is where it gets hard for me. I know what I like but I can't make the design come out. I'm the same way with my home. I'm a horrible decorator....I'm not saying that to be humble. I'm being completely honest. I have certain colors I like for my home but...

Extreme Makeover: Web Edition

It's finally going to happen. I'm finally going to get my Precious Bunz web site up and running. I've been selling diapers for over two years on Hyena Cart and Etsy. Of the two of those, I really like Etsy. I also do alot of sales on my Facebook page, but I also have a privately owned website. Yup, a real honest-to-goodness website for my business. Right now the site looks awful and I don't use it. Thanks to my wonderful husband, I am hiring Angel Hartline from Angel Hartline Designs to redesign my website, Precious Bunz Diapers and Supplies . I'm so excited. This is the same woman who design the new Babyville Boutique website AND actually created some of their proprietary designs for their new line of PUL. Now that's one talented woman!! What a privilege and an honor to have her help me design my new look. Although, I use the term "Help" loosely...I'm thinking that she's going to do all the work and I'm going to say, "WOW, ...
