I think my title is a bit dramatic, but that's how I feel.  For years, Nay...Decades, I've used paper planners. I couldn't find the perfect planner, so I started to create my own planner pages. Times change and my children's needs change, thus changing my own needs. My needs for the type of planner changed. They continue to change, sometimes from day-to-day.  I didn't want lists all over the house, or apps all over my Ipad. I decided to try digital planning. I have Onenote and thought it would be a good idea. The only problem is setting up a planner, one that I liked, was worse than organizing underwear!! It took too much time and with children and all I had to  do, it wasn't something that I could stay focused on. I do have trouble focusing on things to begin with.  Simplicity is one thing that helps my ADD. If it's simple, I can continue to follow through. A friend of mine started selling Norwex. I had no idea what it was at the time. She sent me an invite to her party, via Facebook. I decided to look and I couldn't make it to the party but I wanted to buy something. I went to the Norwex site and was shocked at the prices. I though, "Oh no way!" Then I thought, "Holly isn't impulsive. She's not someone who would waste money, these must be good". I went and watched some of the video's she posted about the product and was intrigued. I decided to buy the "Enviro cloth" and "Window cloth". They were pricey but if they could do what the video showed me, you know...the one with the chicken?? I've decided to use Math U See this year. I looked at all the others... Singapore, Saxon, AOP, BJU, and truth be told, they are all pretty much the same. What I liked about MUS is that the manipulatives give children a good look at the numbers and how they work together. Yes, the other curriculums like Singapore and Saxon have manipulatives, but they're the same things you can buy in your local walmart. I love the 10 minute dvd's, which not only teaches the students but helps the parents to reteach and explain when needed. Another benefit is that they encourage memorization. ALL curriculum's teach for mastery, It would be hard to find one that says, "Yea, we teach it but we don't care if your child masters it.". The problem is that addition and subtraction are easy to understand conceptually, but I want my child to memorize her addition and subtraction facts. I don't want to see my child in 2nd or 3rd grade counting on her fingers. The only problem I...
