Laundry Organization with Ikea- *Free Laundry Labels*

Everyone once in a while, I get an idea that really excites me.
I've seen all these great laundry basket ideas and none of them really worked for me. I had hung up baskets on my laundry room wall, which worked but really were too big. They took up too much room and were really over-kill for what we needed. By the time the large baskets were filled, it was over 2 loads for me.

I saw this at Ikea and took a chance. This is the taller Ikea Algot Frame with 3 of the larger baskets.

I should mention that I use a Speed Queen laundry set. My washing machine is A-MAZ-ING!! I actually get to wash in hot water!! My machine is NOT an HE Machine and I love it! I get a large load washed and washed well in about 30 minutes. I don't have to use any scented laundry additives because my machine actually cleans my clothing thoroughly...with HOT WATER and it rinses in enough water to get all  the soap out.
I mention this because I don't know if my machines are as large as today's newer HE Machines.

One thing about organizing is coming up with something that works for YOU!! For YOUR family. We will often try out some ideas that aren't really meant for our family. So if your system, or even this one, seems like you're trying to put a round peg, in a square hole, then it's time to change it!!

Keeping laundry in one area vs. everyone having a laundry hamper in their rooms is one way to help with this. IF you have 2/3 children or more and they each have their own hampers, this can create a bit of chaos when they're all bringing their dirty laundry at the same time to you. Now if they all do their own laundry, that's great but I'm not at that stage yet. Right now if my 10 y/o were to do her own laundry, she would only have about 2 loads a week and it would be a waste of water, time and detergent.

I have one central location for all our laundry. Everyone puts their dirty laundry in the baskets...they sort as they go. This makes it easier for me to see what needs to be washed and what can wait.

This was very easy to put together. I put it together myself, and my husband helped me get it into place. I purchased the tall tower with 3 baskets and the top shelf. Now, I may tweak this to add in two smaller baskets for cotton towels and the other for microfiber cloths that I clean with. Either way, this system is versatile and really a great way to save space. You can stack another frame on top to really customize your space. These baskets are deceiving and hold more then you would think.

I've also Included some fun laundry labels. I created mine specifically for my needs. These mesh baskets are not the best for glue but I used small zip ties and a hole punch to secure mine. I printed these out, laminated and punched some holes in them.

The ones I created here are free and are more generic in use. I hope this blesses someone. I also tossed in a cute Laundry room printable. Print, frame and hang on or in your laundry room for fun!!! I have these files as PNG files so that you can simply upload them to any photo service. I created these as a 36 x 24 poster size but can be resized for the smaller sizes w/o any issues.

Happy Washing,
Laura
